Avery Barks, a volunteer search-and-rescue dog trainer, is asked to assist on a search for a lost person, and she readily agrees to help. But the victim's dysfunctional family causes quite a distraction to the search efforts and may cause the loss of life.
When Avery discovers a body lying on the road, the connection between the deceased and her ex-boyfriend, Travis, becomes a little too close for comfort, and Travis quickly becomes the prime suspect.
Avery is convinced he's done nothing wrong, but convincing everyone else may be a little more difficult.
Lucky for them, the local residents love her playful golden retriever, Chevy, because she'll have to count on their love for her dog to help her solve the murder and possibly save lives.
This is the third book in the Avery Barks Dog Mysteries series.
Each book in the series stands on its own, but you'll enjoy some of the same characters in the other books within the series.

I am sorry to see this series end. It was fun and entertaining. I loved the idea that this author did not have to write with graphic murder scenes or expletives to tell a good mystery. I will certainly be watching for .more of her works. Thank you Mary Hiker for some good clean fun!Product details

These are great stories that can be read in a few hours. They have a definite beginning, middle and end which is totally refreshing. The friendship between Avery and Don is wonderful. Chevy the dog just makes me smile.
Dogs, murder mysteries, likable characters, interesting plots and more dogs, what's not to love? I really like learning more about search and rescue dogs and I love the location, which I am familiar with. A quick and easy read. Thank you Ms Hiker once again!
While I enjoy this author's books, this is not one of my favorites. It had suspense, but something seemed to be missing. I never seemed to get as involved with this one. I was able to put it down and come back a few days later, but would take me a minute to get back into the story. I've never had that problem previously. Maybe it was just what was going on in my life at the time. I would still recommend it as "lite reading" but not as a suspenseful story.
